What to Expect

Wlecome to Blackman United Methodist Church (BUMC)

We are excited you are interested in our church. At BUMC we are mission driven church striving to serve our community and beyond through the transforming love of Jesus Christ. We would love to have you visit us. We invite you to follow us on social media (Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube) or by simply searching “Blackman UMC”.  Or you can subscribe to our weekly newsletter by filling out the form at the bottom of this page.

How should I dress?
Although some of the congregation enjoys wearing their “Sunday Best” others are comfortable in casual clothing.  We want you to come dressed whichever way you are comfortable, knowing that it’s not what’s on the outside that counts. All are welcome at BUMC.

Where do I go once I get to BUMC?
We have a large parking area in front of the church.  For worship, you will come in the doors to the far right when you are looking at the church.  For entrance to the Fellowship Hall, you will come to the doors to the far left when you are looking at the church.

What to expect from a worship service?
We are grateful you are considering joining us for Sunday morning worship service, and we want you to know that you can join us either onsite (8:30 and 10:45) or online (Facebook or YouTube beginning at 8:30). Both worship services sing primarily traditional hymns, but different styles of music are incorporated into the service at various times. We also invite the congregation to participate in worship through our responsive calls to worship, communal prayers, and by giving of tithes and offerings.

Communion
Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month and is open to any and all who wish to participate. You don’t have to be a member of this church, the United Methodist Church, or any church to participate in communion with us.

Children
Our 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. worship services include a special time for children. They are invited to the front of the sanctuary for a children’s sermon and prayer.

Nursery for Infants & Toddlers
Children are very important to us at Blackman UMC; therefore, we are a Safe Sanctuary church.  A nursery is provided during each worship service for toddlers and infants up to age 4.  Our trained experienced (18-20 yrs) nursery staff will welcome you and your child in Room 104. We only ask that you please sign in your child when dropping them off for safety/security reasons, so we have contact information from the parents/guardians.  For more information about our Safe Sanctuary program, please get in touch with the church office.
