New to BUMC?

Welcome to Blackman United Methodist Church (BUMC), we are excited that you have chosen to visit our website to learn more about our church.  We know going to a new church can be a bit overwhelming. Below you will find some practical information that will help you know a bit more about to expect when you arrive at BUMC.

To stay up to date on things going on at BUMC, we invite you to follow us on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube) or by simply searching “Blackman UMC”.  Or you can subscribe to our weekly newsletter by clicking here. and completing this simple form.

Where is BUMC located?
We are at 4380 Manson Pike | Murfreesboro, TN 37129.

How should I dress?
Although some of the congregation enjoys wearing their “Sunday Best” others are comfortable in casual clothing.  We want you to come dressed whichever way you are comfortable, knowing that it’s not what’s on the outside that counts.  All are welcome at BUMC.

Where do I go once I get to BUMC?
We have a large parking area in front of the church.  For worship, you will come in the doors to the far right when you are looking at the church.  For entrance to the Fellowship Hall, you will come to the doors to the far left when you are looking at the church.

What to expect from a worship service?
We are grateful you are considering joining us for Sunday morning worship service, and we want you to know that you can join us either onsite (8:30 and 10:45) or online (Facebook or YouTube beginning at 8:30).

If you join us on-site, once in the Narthex, ushers will greet you, offer you a bulletin, and you may enter the sanctuary to have a seat.

Also, in the narthex, before or after service, be sure to look at the small table in the middle, which has information on upcoming events and sign-up sheets posted for volunteer opportunities going on at that time.

Both worship services sing primarily traditional hymns, but different styles of music are incorporated into the service at various times with the help of our exceptional music ministry. We also invite the congregation to participate in worship through our responsive calls to worship, communal prayers, and by giving of tithes and offerings.

*Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month and is open to any and all who wish to participate. You don’t have to be a member of this church, the United Methodist Church, or any church to participate in communion with us.

Between our 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. worship services, we have Sunday School for all ages.  More information about the Sunday School classes can be found by clicking here.

We’re so glad you are considering visiting us at Blackman United Methodist Church, and we look forward to meeting you.  You can learn a great deal about Blackman on this page and throughout this website, but if you have any questions, please email us by clicking the “Contact Us” tab above.

Nursery for Infants & Toddlers
Children are very important to us at Blackman UMC; therefore, we are a Safe Sanctuary church.  A nursery is provided during each worship service for toddlers and infants up to age 3.  Our trained nursery staff will welcome you and your child in Room 104.  We only ask that you please sign in your child when dropping them off for safety/security reasons, so we have contact information from the parents/guardians.  For more information about our Safe Sanctuary program, please get in touch with the church office.

Children
Our 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. worship services include a special time for children. They are invited to the front of the sanctuary for a children’s sermon and prayer.
