We have given our middle school students the ability to work with their teachers to pick curriculum based on topics that are applicable to their world, like peer pressure and self-esteem.

High School (Room 208)—This group meets in our Youth Room in a lounge setting where they discuss issues relevant to their lives. Therefore, topics vary quarter to quarter, but this class is lead by two dedicated volunteer teachers who dearly love building relationships with our teenagers.

Adult Sunday School

Young Adults (Room 210) – The United Methodist Church defines Young Adults as graduated high school through 35 years of age. At Blackman this group seeks to build a community with one another at a similar stage of life.  Our discussion topics vary because we want to make sure you are finding ways to stay plugged in to God.  A recent study is 6 Decisions that Will Change Your Life by Tom Berlin.  For more information you can contact the church office or the teacher (Laura Eady).

Young at Heart (Room 101) – This is an open, friendly group of singles and couples ranging in age from 40-80 years old. They focus on studies of Biblical application to life and enjoy a discussion/dialogue teaching style.  The facilitators are Betsy Williams, Phil Glass, and Wayne Rollins.  For more information contact the church office or one of the class facilitators.

The 5 W’s (Who, What, Why, Where, and When) Class (Room 201) – Class members use this group to delve into issues of deeper Biblical learning with the help of study tools such as commentaries and concordances to guide them. Past discussion topics have been Prevenient/Justify/Sanctifying grace, the works of the Holy Spirit, and the Four Major Apostles, which have helped each person in the class, grow in their faith.  For more information please contact the church office or the class teacher, Mary Jane Pannell.

Saints and Sinners (Room 203) – This is a class whose members range in age from 21-98, male and female, single and married, saints and sinners. If you are looking for an open-minded discussion on Biblical topics and how they might apply to your contemporary context this is a group for you.  For more information please contact the church office.

Inquiring Minds (Room 205) – All are welcome in this group. Participants research, analyze, and discuss various biblical topics and current events to see the ways they affect a person’s values and beliefs.  This group has studied the way things such as the Koran, Mormonism, and the historical relevance of the Bible affect us even today.  For more information please contact the church office or the class leader, Reather Arnold.

Jesus Points (Room 209) – This is another class centered around the practice of open-minded discussion of present day issues and how faith/religion/the Bible can help us deal with these real world issues. For more information please contact the church office or Don Mitchell.

Sisters (Room 207) – Females of all ages are invited to this fellowship of Christian women who seek to share in one another’s joys and tribulations through Bible study and growing community to sustain their faith in God and each other.
