Sunday School
At Blackman United Methodist Church, there is a Sunday School group for everyone! Sunday School meets from 9:45 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. Below you will find more information about each group that meets at this time. Please contact us with any questions (office@blackmanumc.com).
Nursery Care – Blackman UMC has two dedicated nursery workers on staff and are available during each worship service for children ages 4 and under. Also, during Sunday School the nursery is available for children ages 4 and under. The nursery is in Room 104.
Children’s Sunday School
Our dedicated volunteer teachers at Blackman UMC utilize relevant curriculum to provide age-appropriate lessons by utilizing a combination of crafts, video, technology, and Bible readings to help your child learn the stories in fun and interactive ways. Age breakdowns and room numbers are as follows:
5 yr olds through 3rd grade – Room 109
4th and 5th grade – Room 103

Youth Sunday School
Youth Confirmation (6th – 12th grades) – Room 206
This class is offered over the course of several months each year. It is designed for young people who are ready to take personal responsibility for the vows made on their behalf at their baptism or for those young people who have not yet been baptized.
Youth Hang Out (6th – 12th grades) – Room 204
This time is designed for our young people to connect with adult leaders in a more casual setting. The hope is that through this time our young people can build relationships and get plugged in to both large group activities and the various small group we offer for teenagers.
Adult Sunday School
Young at Heart (Conference Room) – This is an open, friendly group of singles and couples ranging in age from 40-80 years old. They focus on studies of Biblical application to life and enjoy a discussion/dialogue teaching style.
The 5 W’s (Who, What, Why, Where, and When) Class (Library) – Class members use this group to delve into issues of deeper Biblical learning with the help of study tools such as commentaries and concordances to guide them. Past discussion topics have been Prevenient/Justify/Sanctifying grace, the works of the Holy Spirit, and the Four Major Apostles, which have helped each person in the class, grow in their faith.
Inquiring Minds (Room 205) – All are welcome in this group. Participant’s research, analyze, and discuss various biblical topics and current events to see the ways they affect a person’s values and beliefs. This group has studied the way things such as the Koran, Mormonism, and the historical relevance of the Bible affect us even today.
Sisters (Room 207) – Females of all ages are invited to this fellowship of Christian women who seek to share in one another’s joys and tribulations through Bible study and growing community to sustain their faith in God and each other.
Bible in a Year (Room 102) – This class is designed to follow a calendar that invites you to read through the Bible in a year. We offer a class as a way to talk about the Scriptures you’ve read and learn from one another’s insight.
